National Weather Service Storm Spotter Training Sessions Throughout The Area

The National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office in North Platte, in coordination with county emergency management, volunteer fire departments and other local community organizations offer storm spotter training at several locations across west-central Nebraska to help prepare for the severe weather season.

The spotter training is free of charge and open to anyone who has an interest in severe weather. For this spotter season, the NWS worked to revitalize portions of the training, including the addition of new pictures and videos, interactive scenarios and hands-on activities to practice severe weather reporting.

For more information, please contact NWS North Platte at (308) 532-0921. A listing of the 2020 Spotter Training Schedule across Western and North Central Nebraska is available on the North Platte NWS website, https://www.weather.gov/lbf/spottersched2020.

The webpage will be updated daily as additional spotter training requests are processed by the National Weather Service in North Platte. The National Weather Service welcomes public feedback.
