Nance County Sheriff Warns of Kidnap Scam

FULLERTON - The Nance County Sheriff's Office is warning area residents of a different type of scam that has begun hitting the midwest. The sheriff's office shared information from the Omaha Police Department on their Facebook page, saying scammers are using a nerve wracking method to get money. The sheriff's office says callers will claim that one of your loved ones has been kidnapped, and will use information they find on social media, to make it sound real. The scammer will then try to keep the victim on the phone line, to keep them focused on sending money, instead of calling a loved one. Police ask area residents to be aware of this scam  in case they receive a similar call.
