Mobile Food Pantry At Berean Church Sat., July 24; Distribution Begins At Approximately 9 AM

The Food Bank for the Heartland Mobile Food Pantry will be back in Broken Bow Saturday, July 24 at the Broken Bow Berean Bible Church (2419 Memorial Dr.). Food will be distributed drive-thru style with no need for recipients to get out of their vehicles. All are welcome to receive food to help feed their families.

Distribution will begin at approximately 9 AM or once the food is unloaded from the truck. Vehicles are asked not to line up prior to 9 AM to allow the truck to leave the parking lot. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 8 AM.

Food boxes will include canned goods, bread, in-season vegetables, pasta, and more. Also included during this drive will be milk for 500 families. Volunteers will ask those who are collecting food a few questions regarding household size and ages, if you have been to a mobile food pantry before, where you heard the information, and your zip code.

Each box should contain enough food to feed a family of four for a week. If picking up for another household, vehicles will be able to pick up three additional boxes of food to be delivered for those who are unable to attend.

Local organizer Christie Trumbull spoke on the GetUp and Go Breakfast Show earlier this week and said things are tight with the cost of everything going up and if this helps relieve some of the pressure on families it is worth it.

“It’s not just food that has gone up, everything has gone up,” said Trumbull. “If you can take the burden off of one area it kind of helps through the whole budget system, at least it does for me.”
