Many Halloween Events Happening in Fairbury

FAIRBURY - Several Halloween events are coming up in Fairbury for community members and their families to enjoy. Campers are encouraged to set up a spooky campsite at Alexandria State Park the weekend of October 20th through October 21st. Trick-or-treaters are welcomed from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., both Friday and Saturday. A state park permit is required.
A Sugar Skull Decorating class will be held on Saturday, October 21st, headed by local artist Tony “Once” Boettjer. The class will be held at Jefferson County Art Guild and $25 per Sugar Skull.  A reservation is required due to limited seating. Contact Tony at (402) 200-8274
There will be a Halloween Costume Party at the Fairbury Library on Thursday, October 26th. Costumes will be judged at 5:15 p.m., with a movie beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Fairbury Optimist Club will be hosting the Skeleton Scurry 2K/5K on Saturday, October 28th at 5th and D Streets in Downtown Fairbury. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., with the run beginning at 9:00 a.m. Participating adults are $25. Also on Saturday, October 28th, the second annual Witches’ Tea will be held at the Stagecoach Mall, 510 E Street in Fairbury. From 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. enjoy libations, snacks, games, and crafts plus a costume contest. Tickets are only $20 per person, $10 for children 12 years old and under. Contact Diane Schutt at (402) 300-1211. Tickets are also available at Stagecoach Mall or the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce. Space is limited, so reserve quickly. Then on Halloween night, Trunk or Treat in the Downtown Square. The event promotes safe trick-or-treating for kids in costume, 12 years old and under. The best decorated trunk wins a $25 gas card from Maatsch Food Shop.
