Manley, Nebraska, reaches plea agreement in a child sex assault case

A Manley, Nebraska, man pleaded guilty Monday to attempted sexual assault of a child in exchange for a promise by Cass County prosecutors not to seek more than a 15-year in prison sentence. Terry L. Fritsch Jr., 42, changed his plea to guilty Monday after the Cass County Attorney's Office reduced the charge from first-degree sexual assault of a child. The prosecution also dropped charges of third-degree sexual assault of a child and intentional child abuse. Fritsch faced up to 50 years in prison if he was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child. He faced up to three years in prison on each of the other two charges.
According to court records, the prosecution will not seek more than 10 to 15 years in prison when Fritsch is sentenced July 30 by Judge Michael Smith. Fritsch is being held on $250,000 bail and must pay 10 percent, $25,000, to be released.
