Man Who Fled From Police, Tripped on Couch, Facing Meth Charge

COLUMBUS - A man who allegedly tripped over a couch, while fleeing from police, is facing a felony meth charge in Platte County. Jorge Santos, 27, of Columbus, had an active warrant, when police observed him walking near 20th Street and 26th Avenue, and attempted to stop him, according to an arrest affidavit. Police say in the affidavit, that Santos fled and eventually made his way to 27th Avenue, where he attempted to jump over a couch in a driveway and was unable to clear the couch. Santos then allegedly stuffed something in the cushions of the couch, before attempting to flee again, says the affidavit. Santos was arrested, and officers recovered a black digital scale in the coach cushions, containing white crystal residue, in addition to finding a straw with meth residue in his jean pocket, according to the affidavit. The incident took place on September 27th, and Santos is scheduled for a felony status hearing on Monday.
