Man Wanted for Strangulation May Have Fled Back to Kansas

COLUMBUS - Columbus authorities believe a man may have returned to Kansas after fleeing the scene of a reported assault and strangulation. Authorities are looking for Daniel McAuley, 37, of Topeka, Kansas, who is charged in Platte County with strangulation, terroristic threats, assault, stalking, and child abuse. McAuley is alleged to have beat up a woman and two children on June 3rd, just outside Columbus on south 16th Street, say authorities in an arrest affidavit. The sheriff's department responded to a 911 call from a child, and McAuley is alleged to have fled the scene after law enforcement arrived, says a deputy in the affidavit. Authorities say they believe McAuley has returned to Kansas.
