Man to be Sentenced in Butler County for Selling Pot

DAVID CITY, Neb. - A Lincoln man will be sentenced next week for possessing over one ounce of marijuana in Butler County. 29-year-old Cole Emal was convicted this summer of dealing pot in Butler County court. Court records say the sheriff's office found 1.5 ounces of marijuana in a glovebox near the HWY 81 & HWY 64 intersection. The driver in the car told the deputy that she was driving Emal to Columbus to deliver marijuana, according to the affidavit. Documents say Emal admitted to the crime, but it was a "one time thing." While Emal faces a max of 20 years in prison, a plea deal is in place to give Emal a lesser charge, if he complies by the terms of the deal. As of Tuesday morning, Butler County Attorney Julie Reiter did not respond to an email from NCN asking for further details on the plea deal.
