DAVID CITY, Neb. - A Norfolk man was given a lengthy prison stint for possessing 100 grams of meth inside his vehicle.
27-year-old Juan Campos Jr. was sentenced 10-16 years in prison for possessing the meth that is equivalent to 3.5 ounces.
Court documents say in August of this year, Campos was driving a vehicle that was reported to sheriff deputies as parked in the roadway. Deputies eventually pulled the vehicle over and upon searching it, they found the meth, along with two warm pipes and other drug paraphernalia.
Campos was arrested along with Schuyler Teboe of Norfolk about a half-mile from the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 92 in Butler County. Teboe is currently scheduled for a jury trial in February of next year.
He has already spent over two years in prison for various charges including meth, theft, carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide.
A habitual criminal charge was dropped in the plea agreement for the latest meth conviction.
With Nebraska laws, Campos will only have to serve 5-8 years in prison, pending good behavior. He is credited with 88 days already served.
