Man Arrested for Meth, DUI, and Impersonation After Texting Minor

COLUMBUS - A 20-year-old Columbus man is facing meth and criminal impersonation charges after an incident where he was texting a juvenile. Court records say Sergio Duron-Reina will make a felony first appearance in court on Monday, for an incident that dates back to early July. Police were initially alerted after a parent told police, their child had been texting a man, and thought the man might be helping their child to sneak out of the house, says the arrest affidavit. The affidavit says, police responded to the home and saw Duron-Reina drive into the alley behind the house. Police attempted to pullover Duron-Reina on 23rd Street, but he lead them several blocks around the central Columbus area, before he stopped in parking lot just off 23rd Street, says the affidavit. When asked for his I.D., Duron-Reina told officers it was in his wallet, but a search of his wallet only yielded a folded up dollar bill containing a substance that tested positive for meth, says the affidavit. Duron-Reina also took a preliminary breath test that resulted in a blood alcohol content of .144, while a test taken at a later time resulted in a BAC of .116, says the affidavit. During his arrest, Duron-Reina allegedly gave police multiple different false identities, says the affidavit. Duron-Reina admitted to texting with the juvenile, says the affidavit. Duron-Reina is facing a felony meth possession charge, as well as misdemeanor charges for DUI, contributing to the delinquency of a child, criminal impersonation, driving under suspension, and possession of marijuana, says court records. The affidavit states Duron-Reina has a previous DUI conviction dating pact to January of 2017.
