Man Arrested for 3rd DUI After Hit and Run

COLUMBUS - A Columbus man was arrested for his 3rd DUI after a reported hit and run accident outside a downtown bar. Columbus Police say in an affidavit that they were called to a report of a hit and run accident outside a bar near 12th Street and 25th Avenue, back in November. A witness told police that a man in a Chevy Silverado hit a Dodge Durango that was parked outside the bar, and told someone at the scene "it wasn't that bad, that his insurance would take care of it," states the affidavit. Police were eventually able to track down the Silverado and alleged driver, Matthew Rosa, 33, of Columbus, says the affidavit. Rosa told police he had not drunk anything since the accident occurred, but blew a .175 blood alcohol content in a alcohol breath test, says the affidavit. Rosa was arrested and jailed for felony driving under the influence of alcohol-3rd offense, leaving the scene of an accident, and no operators license. A status hearing is scheduled for January 24th in Platte County Court.
