PIERCE - A Laurel man accused of robbing an Osmond Pharmacy now faces new charges. Thirty-seven year old Roy Merrell appeared in Pierce County Court on Wednesday. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing in his felony burglary case and was bound over to district court for his arraignment. Merrell is charged with robbing the Osmond Pharmacy just before Christmas in 2015. Authorities say he entered the store, demanded prescription drugs and left through an employee door. Merrell also faces additional misdemeanor charges of false reporting, obstructing an officer and criminal mischief. Those were filed Tuesday, after Pierce County authorities allege Merrell lied to them during their investigation into a strangulation in Osmond. They also allege that Merrell struggled with officers while they tried to take him into custody in October. Merrell will be arraigned on the robbery charges in Pierce County District Court on December 21st.
