Man Accused of Hiding Meth in Baby Pouch Found Guilty of Meth Dealing

COLUMBUS, Neb. - A Columbus man who police say hid meth in a baby formula pouch was found guilty of one count of meth distribution. 27-year-old Irvin Alvarez will be sentenced next week after being found guilty of the drug dealing charge. Records say Alvarez was stopped by police in November of last year and authorities found over 10 grams of meth, along with drug paraphernalia, in a baby formula pouch. Police say Alvarez also sold meth to an informant several weeks before. The case is not closed yet, as he is still charged with a separate meth dealing charge and felony possession of meth with no drug stamp. Documents say those charges were deferred to his sentencing hearing on March 22nd. His current conviction will force Judge Robert Steinke to give him a minimum of one year in jail.
