Malmo, NE Bank is Robbed and Suspects Lead Law Enforcement on Multiple Pursuits

MALMO - Another bank robbery has taken place in the surrounding area, this time in the small town of Malmo, NE. According to authorities a bank robbery was reported at approximately 8:40 a.m. at the Security Home Bank in Malmo. One suspect entered and robbed the bank at gunpoint. The individual left with an undisclosed amount of money, and left the scene with three others. The group fled in three different vehicles. According to Douglas County 911 dispatchers, around 9:15 a.m. troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol began pursuing a Chevrolet Lumina with no plates and at least one armed man and woman inside in the area of 204th Street and West Center Road in Omaha. The vehicle was believed to possibly be linked to the robbery. The pursuit by troopers and later Omaha police went down Pacific and I Streets before ending at 114th and West Center at approximately 9:40 a.m. A woman was arrested at a nearby car wash after the vehicle sustained a flat tire. The man in the vehicle escaped on foot, but was later found and placed under arrest. Authorities have also taken two other men into custody. It is suspected they may be linked to the robbery and the pursuit, one near S. 96th Street and Interstate 80, and another near 96th and F Streets. A State Patrol Sgt. on the scene of the arrest said three vehicles have been detained in relation to the robbery. As of 12:24 p.m. no injuries have yet been reported. The FBI is handling the investigation of the bank robbery. It is unknown if the suspects are in any way connected to any other robberies in Saunders County or any of the surrounding counties.
