THEDFORD–Lieutenant Governor Mike Foley will be making his way to the Sandhills next week. On Wednesday, December 19 Lt. Governor Foley will be attending various ribbon cuttings and making appearances at Thedford businesses. Below is a schedule of events provided by Terri Licking:

2:00 p.m. – Dollar General, at the junction of the Byway (NE 2) and U.S. 83 (One of the 14,000 stores nationwide. Headquarters are in Goodlettsville, TN. Nine employees from Mullen to Dunning.)

2:40  – CARS (Crossroads Auto Repair Specialists), just past the overpass – Mike & Janice
Hodges, owners.

3:15 -There is no ribbon cutting, just highlighting the 1 yr old. Thedford Firehall. Learn about the area served by volunteer firefighters and EMTs.

4:00 -Ewoldt’s Grocery, grand re-opening – Allen and Velma Ewoldt, owners. Allen is a
third generation grocer, his family had store in Stapleton, which included meat processing. For a few years he had both stores. In 2009 he closed the Stapleton store, still driving to Thedford five days a week. He lost his first wife shortly after buying the Thedford store. Velma Burns was his manager at Thedford when he was juggling both stores, and still living in Stapleton. They became true partners in every sense of the word a few years ago. Thedford is now home. They have worked hard on revamping their offerings, modernizing their coolers and freezers. His meats are in high demand, in fact, many out of town or out of state call and order a cooler load of meat from Allen when they are back in Thedford area.

Also, Sandhills River Trips, a venture by Allen’s son Cay, is booked through the store, and Allen many times is the chauffer to and from the Middle Loup River.

4:40 -With Love Photography (Bridget Licking, a stay-at-home mom, labor to help on
their ranch, and a substitute teacher as well as president of our local school board. They have three children ages 10, 7, and 4.

5:15 – Prairie Feeds is now in the old firehall. See the contrast of what the squad had
to endure to keep us safe from fires. Pat Laird and his staff will have their grand
opening and serve up New York Strip steak sandwiches, salads, desserts. The American Legion Hall next door will provide the place to sit down and enjoy supper.

7:00 – Q &A session with Lt. Gov. Foley, and if representatives for Congressman Smith,
Senator Fischer, Senator Sasse and State Senator Tom Brewer are in attendance they will be invited to take questions from the audience as well.
