Loup River continues to cause flooding issues

COLUMBUS, NE (Alex Loroff / News Channel Nebraska) – The Loup River is continuing to cause flooding issues for Columbus.

According to the National Weather Service, the Loup River at Columbus has gone over a foot above its flood stage, as water levels are at nearly 12 feet. Large fluctuations in the water levels are still possible due to ice jams that can still significantly affect stages.

The bridge over the Loup River on southbound Highway 81 remains closed. A flood warning for the Columbus area will remain in effect until 6:30 tonight.
