GENOA - A public meeting is being hosted in June to discuss the status of Genoa Headworks Off-Highway Vehicle park, says a Loup Public Power District press release.
The park closed in September of 2016, after the dissolution of the Nebraska Off-Highway Vehicle Association. NOHVA began managing the area in 1990, says a press release.
The meeting is being held on Wednesday, June 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Genoa City Hall, at 313 Willard Avenue, says the release. Attendees are asked to use the north doors.
Officials will present information about the OHV park's history, liability issues, and potential for the trails to reopen, says the release. Information will also be shared about the District's new hydroelectric license, and how it will impact the park.
“This informational meeting is an important first step to allow individuals and groups to understand the requirements needed to reopen the OHV riding area to the public,” said Loup Power District President/CEO Neal Suess. “Loup Power District wants to ensure all individuals and groups who have an interest in the OHV area are able to hear the same message from Loup Power District officials.”
Written comments will be accepted from the public, as well as questions during the meeting, which they will provide answers for at a later date, says the District.
The camping, fishing, and picnicking areas remain open at the park.
