Little Lights Preschool Kickoff and 5K Race

BROKEN BOW—Some of the youngest community members in our midst will soon have the opportunity to attend Little Lights Preschool—set to open this fall.

The preschool kickoff 5K event and enrollment will take place this Saturday for the 2018-2019 school year. The faith-based, Christ-centered preschool will serve children ages three to five years and will meet at the E-Free Church Challenge Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings.

Enrollment will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Melham Park by the ballfields. At 8 a.m. registration will begin and a 5K race will take place at 8:30 a.m.

Tess Jones has a background in education and moved to Broken Bow in 2013 with the desire to open a Christian preschool.

“I thought that starting a Christian preschool was something that I really wanted to do. So I prayed about it a lot and that door closed for a long time,” Jones said.

Five years later, the opportunity presented itself thanks to the collaboration of the E-Free and Berean churches, volunteers, Pastor Tim Peterson, Pastor Tyce Jensen, and co-teacher Jessica Littlejohn.

Jones and Littlejohn will be accepting enrollment of 22 children ages three to five. Jones said Little Lights is a nonprofit preschool and will operate under the direction of an advisory board. She hopes this weekend’s 5K race will serve as a fun way to share the news with local families.

“Some extra funds for the preschool, kind of a community kickoff just to let people know we’re here. Hopefully we’ll be able to do some more community events. I would love for this to be a great way to minister to the families in Broken Bow and just love on them,” Jones said.
