Lillie Kate Boutique Coming to Former Kids Kloset
Lillie Kate Boutique set to open in the next few months in Broken Bow.
BROKEN BOW—Custer County residents will soon have a fresh take on shopping locally thanks to Lillie Kate Boutique, set to open in the Broken Bow city square very soon. Broken Bow resident Melanee Nixon and her husband Jon moved to Broken Bow from Texas four years ago and both worked at Becton Dickinson. After many years in the corporate world, Melanee decided to venture into online direct sales and eventually left BD in May of 2017 in order to spend more time with her daughters, Lillian and Katelyn. “I know that family comes first and that’s the whole reason that we dove in head first to this business,” Nixon said. She then launched an online boutique last November but her inventory began to outgrow her home. Hoping to find the perfect balance of family and work, Melanee had an interest in starting a business with her family. Thanks to the success of her online boutique and the knowledge that Kids Kloset would be closing, Melanee and Jon decided to purchase the building. Lillie Kate Boutique will give people the opportunity to shop locally for baby, children, and women’s clothing, as well as some men’s items. “I think I just love clothes and also I wanted to find clothes that were still trendy but yet affordable. And still good quality as well,” Nixon said. Lillie Kate will also feature a variety of sizes and several lines of denim and shoes (for women and children), jewelry, candles, tumblers, and other accessories. Family has been the heart of opening the boutique and Melanee loves having her daughters involved at the store. The family has been undergoing building renovations thanks to the help of friends and local contractors and Melanee said they have been tackling projects one step at a time. When asked about doing business in the former Kids Kloset building, Melanee said she is honored to continue to give local residents the opportunity to shop in the square. She worked closely with Kids Kloset owner Shirley McGinn and staff and though it is a different store, Lillie Kate will carry some of the favorite brands. “I think Shirley [McGinn] did a really good job at accommodating the town as far as just the wide variety that she offered. She basically carried from newborn all the way up,” Nixon said. The boutique is located at 833 South D. Street and will have a seating area and kids table. Nixon has a few things up her sleeve for the lower level of the store upon opening her doors and is excited to welcome shoppers. Melanee hopes to open the doors to Lillie Kate Boutique by late August/early September.
