Library Requests Purchase of $11,925.50 Microfilm Scanner

COLUMBUS - The city library is requesting the purchase of an $11,925.50 microfilm scanner, in an effort to update their current set up. Librarian Karen Connell says in a request letter that the current scanner is running at the end of it's life cycle, and says the pictures currently produced are grainy, often unreadable, and unprintable. The requested scanner setup would allow for clearer images, image editing, and everything needed for reading, editing, and printing, historical news articles and microfilm collections, says Connell. Connell says the purchase falls within the parameters of the library's planned budget for this fiscal year. The council will consider the issue Monday night at the regular city council meeting.
