The Sandhills Journey National Scenic Byway (SJNSB) will host their two-day annual conference on Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1 in Broken Bow.
The theme, ‘Celebrate Us!’ is in honor of being one of two scenic byways in Nebraska that have received the national designation. Festivities will begin on Friday at 5:30 PM at the SJNSB Visitors Center on the east edge of Broken Bow which will include refreshments. Evening events will include a symbolic sod turning at the site of a proposed sod house, ribbon cutting, and the unveiling of new road signs that will replace the current signs on NE Highway 2.
Saturday, the Broken Bow Library will host the annual SJNSB meeting from 10:30 to 11:45 AM, followed by lunch catered by Legends Neighborhood Grill. The afternoon will include award presentations to a number of individuals and businesses who have continued to support the Byway. The afternoon will also include speakers and presentations from National Scenic Byway Foundation, Pure Nebraska, Huntrex, and John Hunt.
The cost to attend Saturday’s award luncheon is $25. Friday’s events are free and open to the public thanks to the sponsorship of the Custer Economic Development Corporation, Broken Bow Chamber, SJNSB Visitor Center Committee, Grocery Kart of Broken Bow, Kinkaider Brewing Co., Custer Co.
