Larry King To Be Released Following Plea Deal On Criminal Impersonation Charge

CUSTER COUNTY— Only two criminal cases were on the docket for Custer County District Court on Thursday, January 31. Mitchell Burnett appeared for a Pre-Trial conference where his attorney, Christopher Wickham, asked the court for a continuance as they are awaiting a handwriting expert to finish with new documents.

Judge Karin Noakes also asked Burnett if he was going to waive the speedy trial, which he agreed to do. Judge Noakes continued the jury trial to commence June 24 at 9 AM with a pre-trial conference to take place on May 23 at 10 AM.

Larry King appeared for his Arraignment in District Court facing charges of Criminal Impersonation, a class IV felony. King, his attorney Michael Borders, and County Attorney Steve Bowers had reached a plea agreement in hopes of releasing King later that day.

The plea agreement stated that for a guilty or no-contest plea, the State would ask that King be sentence to 110 days in the county jail with 62 days credit time served. With King’s good behavior in jail, this would allow him extra days off his sentence and he would be released.

After King pled no contest to the charges, Judge Noakes followed the plea agreement and also sentenced King to nine months of post release supervision.
