NEBRASKA CITY - Otoe County District Judge Michael Smith sentenced a Douglas man to probation Tuesday on convictions of two counts of attempted possession of child pornography.
Mark Knorr, 48, was arrested after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children forwarded six cybertips to the Nebraska State Patrol regarding 16 images.
Investigators say over a two-year period, images were downloaded from the Internet, but Attorney Michael Ziskey noted Tuesday that most had been deleted before Knorr had contact with law enforcement.
Ziskey: “He realized this is something that was problematic and was trying to rectify the situation,” Ziskey said.
Judge Smith told Knorr that this is not a victimless crime.
Smith: “By participating in this type of offense, you provide a market for these children to be exploited. That’s your part in this.”
Judge Smith fined Knorr $500 and ordered him to have no contact with family members under the age of 18 unless supervised.
