Hunter Education Classes In Sargent Oct. 14-22; Must Register Through NE Game & Parks Website

SARGENT—Hunter education classes will be taking place at the Sargent Community Center, located on Main Street in Sargent. There is no cost of the course and if a student would like to register they must do so on the Nebraska Game and Parks website.

To participate in the class, students must be age 11 or older by the end of the class period. Do not bring firearms to class.

Hunter education classes:
Oct. 14 – 6-8:30 pm
Oct. 15 – 6-8:30 pm
Oct. 17 – 6-8:30 pm
Oct. 21 – 6-8:30 pm
Oct. 22 – 6-8:30 pm

According to the Nebraska Game and Parks Website, successful completion of a Firearm Hunter Education course is required for all Nebraska hunters age 12 through 29 who hunt any species with a firearm or air gun. Additionally, Bowhunter Education is required for all Nebraska hunters age 12 through 29 who hunt deer, elk, antelope or mountain sheep with bow and arrow or crossbow.

Hunters must carry proof of successful completion of a hunter education course while hunting. Proof may be in the form of a valid permit containing the hunters’ Firearm Hunter Education or Bowhunter Education number, or a Hunter Education card or certificate issued by a recognized state or provincial agency.

Hunters of any age, whether required to or not, are welcome and encouraged to take a hunter education course to become familiar with the principles of hunter safety.
