EDIT: The Nebraska Department of Transportation says they are re-evaluating the next steps in the letting process on the project and construction may still occur this year.
ORIGINAL STORY: HUMPHREY – An ongoing project at the intersection of Highways 81 and 91 near Humphrey is delayed.
Officials with the Nebraska Department of Transportation say contractors in the area are busy with other projects because of recent flooding damage to roads.
NDOT announced in February that a restricted crossing U-turn or “RCUT” was the solution to address safety concerns.
Meetings were held with the surrounding communities late last year to seek public input regarding the project.
According to a news release from November 2018, the department estimated a spring 2019 start date with an estimated cost of nearly 2 million dollars.
