Two people died on Nebraska roads in separate crashes over the weekend, the Nebraska State Patrol said Sunday.
Travis Ries, 26, of Pawnee City, died Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 75 about two miles north of Auburn. Ries was a passenger in a vehicle heading north on Highway 75 about 8:15 p.m. when the driver tried to pass another northbound vehicle that was turning west.
Ries, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. The names and conditions of the drivers were not immediately available.
In a separate accident, Nicholas Pachta, 17, of Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene Friday of a one-vehicle crash about 8:45 p.m. in Hamilton County. Pachta was driving in the area of Nebraska Highway 15 and O Road near Aurora when his vehicle lost control and crashed.
A passenger in Pachta's vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, according to a State Patrol spokesman. The name of the passenger was not immediately available.
Both collisions remain under investigation.
