Hall of Fame Coach Shares Leadership Tips With NE Nebraska Principals

NORFOLK - Principals, like coaches, are expected to lead and mold young people to be the best they can be. That synergy is what led the Nebraska State Associations of Principals to invite former Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne to be the keynote speaker at their region three meeting in Norfolk on Wednesday. Osborne said that in his experience, he found the most success using a transformational leadership model. Osborne says schools would benefit from having principals who are willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of the district. “This style of leadership will take an organization further and faster if it’s done right,” the half of fame coach said. “But on the other hand you will have to pay a greater price as a leader, because you lead by example.” Osborne’s stop is one of two he’ll make in Northeast Nebraska on Wednesday, as he also is helping the Battle Creek school district launch its Teammates mentoring program.
