Governor’s Race: ‘It’s the Property Taxes, Stupid’

Omaha, NE.—Over the last 40 years only two incumbent Republican governors in Nebraska lost re-election: Charlie Thone in 1982 and Kay Orr in 1990. Both arguably committed the cardinal sin of Nebraska politics (certainly for Republicans): They raised taxes. The same can't be said for their fellow Republican, Gov. Pete Ricketts. But has Ricketts done enough to cut taxes? More specifically has he helped ease what many see as the pain of property taxes. It's the overriding issue in the fight between Ricketts and Democrat Bob Krist (see video above).
