CALLAWAY— The Callaway Chamber of Commerce gained a new member on Wednesday, December 2 as True Value joined under the new ownership of Jacob Mason. Mason took over as owner on March 1, 2020 after Ken Pitkin handed over the business after 43 years.
Pitkin had stated previously, in the Custer County Chief, that he started the business in 1977 after a banker suggested it. Mason, who worked in construction with his father at Mason Construction and Lane Chelsey of Design Homes, said that things just fell into place to own the business.
The ribbon-cutting took place as community members wandered the streets of Callaway to celebrate their Old Fashioned Christmas while enjoying, food, drinks, and festivities.
