Four juveniles injured while tubing on Lake Waconda in Cass County

Four juveniles were taken to an Omaha hospital after being injured while tubing Saturday on Lake Waconda in Cass County.
The incident occurred about 5 p.m. when the four juveniles were riding on a large inner tube behind a powerboat near the dam on the north end of the lake and the boat took a wide turn, Herb Angell, boating administrator for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, said Sunday. The four were ejected from the inner tube, he said. None of the injuries was life threatening, he said. Alcohol was not involved in the incident.
Two of the four young people were treated at the Nebraska Medical Center and released. The two others sustained broken bones and were held for observation, Angell said. The names of the boat's driver and those injured have not been released. The incident remains under investigation.
Lake Waconda is a recreational lake development that's 25 miles south of Omaha, east of U.S. Highway 75 between Murray and Union, Nebraska.
