Food Drive during Broken Bow vs. Ogallala Basketball Games this Saturday

BROKEN BOW—Food donations will be accepted during this Saturday’s basketball game of Broken Bow vs. Ogallala (held at Broken Bow). The Broken Bow High School student council is hosting this year’s annual community food drive to benefit the local food pantry.

Donations can be dropped off with a student council member at the high school. During the basketball games on Saturday, February 2, donations can be dropped off by the high school cafeteria. Anyone who brings at least three food items is eligible for a free popcorn during the basketball games.

Student council vice president Sam Schendt, a senior, said the food pantry is in need of non-perishable items such as cake mixes, cereals, and other boxed items as well as canned goods.

Senior Alyssa Cyboron serves as the student council secretary this year and says she enjoys helping with the annual food drive.

“[I enjoy] seeing how much food we actually do get and how well people contribute and know that our community needs stuff like that,” Cyboron said.

The food drive will also serve as a class competition between grades 6-12. Donate on behalf of your favorite class for a chance for them to win a pizza party.

Contact a student council member with any questions or contact student council sponsors Lori Barta and Rachelle Haines for more information about donating food.
