Fog a Factor in Fatal Highway 92 Crash

MERRICK COUNTY - A rural St. Paul man died after an accident on Highway 92 on Monday. The Merrick County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred just after 7 a.m. near 13th Road. A press release says Broedy Starkey was driving a car westbound on Highway 92, when the vehicle collided head-on with a pickup pulling a horse trailer eastbound. The pickup was driven by Mary Dugan of Greeley says the sheriff's office. Starkey was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, say police. Dugan was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the Merrick Medical Center, says the sheriff's office. Police say heavy fog was a contributing factor in the accident, and do no expect criminal charges to be filed.
