Flood notes: City of Nemaha looking for volunteers to fill sandbags

NEBRASKA CITY – Flood water covering Interstate 29 near Bartlett, Iowa has closed the road from Rock Port, Mo. to Council Bluffs, Ia.

The City of Nemaha is asking for volunteers to help fill sandbags/

Omaha Public Power District, south of Nebraska City, is evacuating non-essential employees Friday afternoon. They are also sandbagging around the property.

Nebraska City Utilities announced they had to shutdown the waste water treatment due to the high level of the river. It is unknown how the shutdown will last. There is no concern about the city water. The water supply is safe. The water plant is operating normally and there is no concern that officials can foresee with the water supply.

The Syracuse Auxiliary Thrift Shop will not be accepting any donations until Friday, March 22nd, due to some water in the basement.
