UPDATE: First Omaha House Ad Hits Trump

I won’t let Trump’s Washington put Nebraskans’ future at risk.

- Ashford TV Ad

Omaha, NE.—Brad Ashford is striking first but Kara Eastman isn't far behind and has ponied up more initial cash as the Democratic House race hits the air. Team Ashford has shelled out nearly $29,000 for week-one of its TV ads which launched this week, taking a swing at President Trump and touting that Ashford has "done a lot for Nebraska." Eastman has bought TV time (see ad below) up through the end of the May 15th primary; her first buy—more are expected— totaling nearly $44,000. Ashford's ad (see it below) finds three people praising him as he promises he "won’t let Trump’s Washington put Nebraskans’ future at risk. In Congress, I’ll protect Social Security and Medicare, stand up for Planned Parenthood. And fight against dangerous health care cuts." In an apparent swipe at Ashford, Eastman's ad says she's the only one in the race "that stands for universal health care." The former one-term Congressman, who is trying to get his old job back after losing to Republican Don Bacon in 2016, makes no mention of Eastman in his commercial. Ashford's ad is running on all four Omaha TV stations—KETV, WOWT, KMTV and KPTM—and Cox cable. Ditto for Eastman, except for KPTM. KETV, the number one rated news station in the market, picked up most of the cash: $40,000 out of nearly $73,000.
