VALLEY - The first freeze of the season might be on tap for Northeast and North Central Nebraska Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch until 8 a.m. Tuesday for Antelope, Boone, Cedar, Knox and Pierce counties. Forecasters say temperatures overnight will hover near the freezing mark, meaning plants and crops could be damaged. Further west, freezing temperatures are expected. A freeze warning has been issued for Boyd and Holt Counties. Forecasters say they're confident temperatures there will drop into the 20's overnight. Nebraskans in the mountain time zone have already felt a winter blast. Three inches of snow reportedly fell in portions of the Panhandle early Monday.
