First County Court Session Of 2019 Has Ten Accused Of Felonies On The Docket

CUSTER COUNTY— While Custer County Court was plenty busy on the first Monday of 2019, all felony cases were either continued or bound to the District Court of Custer County.

Kyle McAlevy, 31 of Broken Bow, who is facing alleged charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class IV felony, had his case continued to January 28 at 3 P.M. after written notice.

Jessie Shafer, 29 of Lincoln, had her case continued to February 4 at 2 P.M. after a continuance was granted by Judge Tami Schendt. Shafer is facing an alleged Escape charge, a class IV felony, and also a Habitual Criminal enhancement which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years and a maximum of sixty years.

Acacia Lash, 31 of Broken Bow, has had her cases bound over to District Court after she elected to waive her preliminary hearing in County Court. Lash is facing alleged charges of Burglary, Theft by Taking, as well as 2nd Degree Forgery. She will appear in District Court for Arraignment on February 7 at 9:30 A.M.

Joshua Miller, 38 of Broken Bow, had his case continued until February 25 at 2:30 P.M. Miller is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class IV felony, as well as other charges.

Sam Payton, 40 of Callaway, is facing alleged charges of 3rd Degree Domestic Assault (second offense), Strangulation, and Child Abuse all of which are class IIIA felonies. Payton waived his preliminary hearing and his case was bound to District Court for Arraignment on January 17 at 1:30 P.M.

Anthony Elder, 38 of Broken Bow, will be back in County Court on January 28 as his case was continued. Elder will be facing alleged charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class IV felony. Also facing similar charges is Amy Lytle, 39 of Broken Bow; however her case was continued to February 25 at 2 P.M.

Larry King has had his case bound to District Court after he elected to waive his preliminary hearing on two separate counts of accused Criminal Impersonation, a class IV felony. King will appear for Arraignment on January 31 at 9:30 A.M.

Joshua Oels has had his case bound to District Court on January 17 at 9:30 A.M. for Arraignment. Oels is facing accused charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class IV felony.

Chelsea Brass, 26 of Broken Bow, had her case continued to January 28 at 9 A.M. Brass is facing multiple accused charges related to Possession of a Controlled Substance.
