Felon Who Allegedly Shot Officer in Critical Condition

COLUMBUS - The Grand Island man who is alleged to have shot a Columbus police officer, had a warrant for violating terms of his probation. Jorje Robledo was sentenced to 2 years for possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited, 1 year for failing to appear when on bail for a felony, and  90 days for operating a vehicle to avoid arrest. Robledo was given credit for time served in all 3 cases. A warrant was issued in the possession of a deadly weapon case on April 16th for violating the terms of his probation, according to court records. Officials have not yet said what new charges Robledo may be facing after the incident Thursday evening, where he reportedly shot 19-year Columbus police veteran Sergeant Brad Wangler. Robledo was shot in the incident as well, and was last reported to be in critical condition. Robledo was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha to be treated Thursday night. The incident is being jointly investigated by the Columbus Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol, said CPD officials.
