Falls City School Wins “Small Towns Matter” Campaign

FALLS CITY – Falls City South Elementary School is the winner in a statewide Small Towns Matter campaign, sponsored by News Channel Nebraska and UnitedHealthcare.

Online registrations were open through April 30 to win $5,000 for the winning school, plus bicycle helmets for every student.

Falls City South Elementary School will hold a celebration at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15. B103 (103.1 FM, b103.fm) will be on location, broadcasting live.

Speakers include:

  • Mayor Shawna Bindle
  • UnitedHealthcare CEO Rob Broomfield
  • UnitedHealthcare Director Matt Milam
  • Principal Mike Wentz
  • Superintendent Tim Heckenlively
  • News Channel Nebraska CEO Andy Ruback
  • News Channel Nebraska founder Mike Flood

Immediately following, there will be a helmet presentation for students in grades three to five, plus incoming third graders for next year.

The $5,000 will be divided among South Elementary teachers to be used to purchase educational materials.

The celebration is open to the public.
