Failed Equipment To Blame For Tuesday Morning’s Power Outage In Broken Bow

Broken Bow— The east side of Broken Bow started the day off with no power on Tuesday, May 26 after equipment failed at the 5th Ave. Substation. Power was off for approximately an hour before Broken Bow Utilities crews were able to restore power.

The outage raised a number of questions as the phones rang constantly at the city offices as the public began wondering if it was a planned outage or if there was another reason for the power loss. Electrical Superintendent Jeremy Tarr informed KCNI/KBBN that equipment had failed at the substation on 5th Ave. which resulted in a fault with three circuits.

Through the power failure there was also damage which will be updated when the substation is worked on in the future. Tarr noted that as of Wednesday morning the total cost of damage was not known.
