Enjoy Halloween-themed state park events at Indian Cave this month

LINCOLN, Neb. – There is no better place to enjoy the changing leaves and fall breezes than a state park. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission state park areas have several Halloween-themed events in October to bring families together outdoors.

In addition to trick-or-treating, parks areas will have pumpkin carving, campsite decorating, hayrack rides, hikes, crafts, pumpkin rolls and more.

Some of the events, with dates and locations, are:

Trick or Treat in the Town – Oct. 12, Indian Cave State Park (SP), Shubert; Howl in the Hills Night Hike – Oct. 13, Wildcat Hills Nature Center, Gering; Hallowfest – Oct. 13, 20, Ponca SP, Ponca; Halloween Decorating Contest in the RV Campground – Oct. 13, 20, 27, Indian Cave SP; Haunted Hollow – Oct. 13, 20, 20, 26, 27, Indian Cave SP; Pumpkin Carvers Festival – Oct. 20, Calamus State Recreation Area (SRA), Burwell; Jack-O-Lantern Junk and Craft Market – Oct. 20, Indian Cave SP; Trick or Treating – Oct. 20, Branched Oak SRA, Raymond; Trunk or Treat – Oct. 26, Calamus SRA; Spooktacular Halloween – Oct. 26, Two Rivers SRA, Waterloo; Halloween at the Hollow – Oct. 27, Ash Hollow State Historical Park, Lewellen
