Eastman Poll Numbers Head South

Omaha, NE.—While touting a recent endorsement from former President Barack Obama, Democrat Kara Eastman is silent on a recent poll which finds her trailing Republican Congressman Don Bacon by nine points.

According to the New York Times, Bacon leads 51-42 and "in this election season he has raised about twice as much (money) as Ms. Eastman."
Four national election watchers all rate the race "lean Republican" with FiveThirtyEight now giving Bacon a 64 percent chance of winning—a major turnaround from mid-August when Eastman was at 58 percent. As News Channel Nebraska first reported, while the GOP's Congressional Leadership Fund has been up and running attack-Eastman ads for several days, the Democratic antidote—the House Majority PAC and its likely assault on Bacon— isn’t scheduled to hit the air in Omaha until October 16. A spokesperson for the House Majority PAC downplayed their slow-go. “A number of strategic factors help determine which markets and weeks we reserve airtime, including in many cases working to ensure Democrats aren’t out communicated on the airwaves in the final weeks before Election Day,” Press Secretary Hannah Blatt tells News Channel Nebraska. The Eastman campaign has not been available for comment.
