Duncan Man Accused of Throwing Chair at Woman

COLUMBUS, Neb. - A Duncan man will be in court this week after authorities say he threw a chair at a woman's face. 50-year-old Thomas Hawkins is charged with one count of felony 2nd degree assault and one count of 3rd degree misdemeanor assault after an incident in Duncan on October 21st. Court records say a woman was hiding from Hawkins in a bathroom with her two kids, when another woman attempted to enter to get away from Hawkins. Records say Hawkins grabbed that woman and threw her into the kitchen island, collapsing it. Documents say he then grabbed her hair, while the woman in the bathroom yelled at him to stop. Police say that's when Hawkins grabbed a chair and threw it at the woman in the bathroom. She later reported to authorities that the chair hit her in the face and cut both her upper and lower lip. If convicted, Hawkins faces up to 20 years in prison.
