Drunk Driver Crashes into Downtown Columbus Restaurant

COLUMBUS - Police say multiple factors played a part in a drunk driver crashing into a downtown Columbus restaurant. Columbus Police reports say, a 30-year-old man was speeding in a 2006 Ford Mustang northbound on 26th Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the east side of Gottberg Restaurant. The driver had a blood alcohol level of .133 at the time of the crash and damage to the brick building was estimated at $500, while the Mustang was totaled, says reports. The driver was cited and jailed for 1st offense driving under the influence, says CPD reports. The accident occurred at approximately 1:34 a.m. Sunday morning, and the DUI arrest was one of five that police made on Sunday, says reports.
