Driver Injured After Semi Loses Control

Monroe - A driver was injured in a single vehicle semi-trailer accident in Platte County on Sunday. Platte County Sheriff Ed Wemhoff says a semi and trailer, were being driven south bound on the Monroe Blacktop, near 370th Avenue and 205th Street, on Sunday, when the semi dropped off the roadway and lost control. The semi tipped over on it's side in the middle of the roadway, and the cab overturned as it entered the ditch, says Wemhoff. The load was thrown from the tailer as it tipped over, says Wemhoff. Wemhoff says the driver suffered injuries in the accident and was transported to the Columbus Community Hospital to be treated. The extent of the injuries are unknown. Sheriff logs say the cab was a total loss, while the trailer suffered an estimated $10,000 in damage. The accident was reported at 6:23 p.m. on Sunday. Monroe Fire and Rescue assisted the Platte County Sheriff's Office with the accident, says Wemhoff. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, and the driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, says Wemhoff.
