Driver Hospitalized, Hits Parked Car While Changing Radio

COLUMBUS - A woman was taken to the hospital after she hit a parked SUV while changing the radio station in her vehicle. Columbus Police reports say the 51-year-old woman told police she was looking down at her radio to change the station, when she collided with the parked vehicle. The damage to the parked 2005 Mercury Mariner was $5,000, while the injured woman's 2017 Chevy Spark was totaled, says CPD reports. The woman was transported by Columbus Fire and Rescue to the Columbus Community Hospital for unknown injuries, after the collision, says CPD. The woman was also cited for failure to maintain control of her car, says reports. The driver was northbound on 18th Avenue near Star Lane at the time of the collision, says reports. The accident occurred at 2:06 p.m. on Monday, say police.
