A woman from the Fremont area was killed in a Monday morning crash between Mead and Wahoo, the Saunders County sheriff said.
The crash occurred about 6:50 a.m. on Nebraska Highway 92 at County Road 13, Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said. Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that the woman was driving west on Highway 92 in a 2006 Chevy Malibu when the car crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an eastbound semitrailer truck coming from a concrete plant.
The woman was killed instantly, Stukenholtz said. The driver of the semi was taken to Saunders County Medical Center in Wahoo, where he was treated and released.
The highways were closed until about 11:15 a.m.
An autopsy is pending. The name of the woman killed in the crash has not yet been released.
