NORTH PLATTE – It’s official. Winter is never ending.
That’s a bit of an overstatement, but residents in north central Nebraska may be sharing that sentiment this weekend.
The National Weather Service office in North Platte has issued a winter storm watch from Holt and Boyd counties west to the Colorado border from Friday afternoon into Saturday evening.
NWS forecasters are expecting rain to change over into snow Friday morning, falling in moderate to heavy amounts at times through Saturday.
The Weather Service is forecasting six to eight inches of snow, with the potential for 10 inches or more near the South Dakota border.
Northeast Nebraska isn’t expected to get that much, but there is the potential for up to three inches of snow to fall in the area.
By contrast, temperatures on Wednesday are forecast to eclipse 80 degrees in some parts of the state.
