Discoverers Take Next Step Toward College, During Special Event

COLUMBUS - Colleges brought the application process directly to the students during a special day at CHS on Thursday. Columbus Seniors met with a large number of college representatives from all over, and navigated through the application process. Senior Maria Middendorf says she was really glad the school held the event, which made looking at other schools, a comfortable process. "I went to UNL and UNK, and then they just helped me with the application process," says Middendorf, " I was kind of worried, if I didn't know how to do something, but they helped a lot, because they knew everything, so that was really nice." Middendorf says she would like to study to become a nurse in college. Organizer Kim Loeffelholz says the event has continued to grow, and she is excited to see how involved the students were in the process. "They're very excited. I don't think that as many had planned to actually submit applications today, but the recruiters that are here, are able to help them with the process, so they're really able to answer some questions that maybe we can't," says Loeffelholz. The event was held in the auxiliary gym at Columbus High.
