DAVID CITY, Neb. - A David City man was found guilty of misdemeanor sexual assault after initially being charged with a harsher crime.
19-year-old Paul Casteel was found guilty after pleading no contest to 3rd-degree sexual assault. Casteel was originally charged with first degree-sexual assault but reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
According to court records, the victim told police Casteel sexually assaulted her in a David City residence in March.
The documents say at first Casteel denied the that he had relations with the woman that day, but eventually admitted to police they had mutual intercourse and he said they had both been drinking that day.
Casteel will be sentenced for his misdemeanor on September 3rd.
