Custer County Foundation Awards Over $68,000 In Grants To 18 Organizations And One Student

The Custer County Foundation reviewed grant requests for the period ending April 30, 2021 and they are awarding a total of $68,232 to 18 Custer County organizations and one non-traditional student.  

“It’s always an exciting time when we get to announce our grant recipients,” said Lindsay Cook, Executive Director of the Foundation.  “The generous support we receive from our donors through our annual Gala & Auction in December enables the Foundation to continue to have a county-wide impact through the grants we are able to award.”

The Foundation Grants committee recommended, and the Board of Directors approved, the following awards:

Anselmo-Merna Public Schools – $5,000: To help provide computers needed for the STEM lab. 

Ansley Rural Fire Protection District – $7,500: To help purchase a power cot load system for the ambulance.  

Arnold Community Theater – $2,000: To help improve the sound quality at the theater.  

Arnold Public Schools – $3,600: To purchase a kiln to help expand the ceramics program.  

Broken Bow Area Rotary – $450: To help with the “Fly the Flag” project in Broken Bow.  

Broken Bow Library Foundation – $2,545: To assist with the summer reading program.  

Broken Bow High School FFA – $2,582: To purchase one welder for the school.  

Custer County Children’s Theater – $1,500: To assist with the Children’s Theater production.  

Gates Cemetery Board – $450: To help purchase mortuary signs for unmarked graves.

Mid-Plains Community College, Broken Bow Campus – $680: To help provide a robotics and coding education class for middle school students.  

New Discoveries Preschool – $500: To help with a sensory path in the preschool.  

Sargent Rural Fire District – $11,100: To provide new bunker gear for the fire department. 

Seven Valleys Senior Center – $2,500: To replace windows at the Senior Center. 

Seven Valleys Rodeo Association – $4,500: To provide a conex container for a crow’s nest.  

Spartan Foundation – $3,500: To assist with the baseball program.  

Village of Arnold – $15,000: To help replace the floor in the community center.  

Village of Callaway – $825: To replace the water fountain in the community center.  

Women for Veterans – $3,000: To help with the Veterans Memorial Wall.  

Non-Traditional Scholarship – $1,000: To award a scholarship to a non-traditional student.
